CARDIAC TESTING

Cardiac testing helps assess how your heart is working and can identify conditions such as irregular heart rhythms, reduced blood flow, or other heart-related concerns. These tests provide important information to support accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing heart care.

Depending on the type of test, your exam may involve monitoring your heart’s electrical activity, blood pressure, or blood flow while you rest or during gentle exercise. Most cardiac tests are non-invasive, painless, and performed in a comfortable clinical setting.

Exam Preparation

No special preparation is required for the following tests:

• Echocardiography

• Holter monitoring

• Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

Stress Testing

(Preparation is the same as for Nuclear Cardiology exams)

• Please bring all of your medications with you to the appointment.

For patients with diabetes:

• If you take oral diabetes medication:
  Eat a light breakfast or lunch and take half of your usual dose on the morning of the test.
  After the test, you may eat normally and take the remaining dose.

• If you use insulin:
  On the morning of the test, take half of your usual insulin dose and eat a light breakfast.
